Suan Muk Kaew Beach next to Tha Kao Beach is only 500 meters long.It,however,is the owner of the great nature, both the beach and the clear water.The viewpoint on the hill behind the beach offers the far sight seascape view.

How to get there: More appropriate to tour round the beach by motorcycle as it is rather far from the entrance.From the tourist service center,ride along the beachside road in the east passing Tha Khao Beach where is a right turn to a Mosque.Continue for for another 100 meters where ehere is a small laterte road on the right uphill, go along to meet a concrete road and further for 150 meters an entrance to Suan Muk Kaew Beach is there, with a total distance from Manoh Pier of about 12 kilometers.

Suan Muk Kaew Beach or Dhamma Kaya Beach is the land pwned by Dhamma Kaya Abbey for public use as a peaceful retreat by the beach to meditate and relax. The area was divided into three parts--a wide green grass field for meditation,a small 100 meters long beach Suan Muk Kaew Beach, and a hillside viewpoint Muk Tawan. to visit the beach, tourists should respect the place with no alchoholics or things that disturb.

Suan Muk Kaew Beach is a small sandy beach.The quiet atmosphere is perfect for strolling and relaxing.

Tha Khao Beach ( Koh Yao Noi )

Tha Khao Beach is the closet beach to Manoh Pier. The clear water and beautiful beach is not the prominent asset for Tha Khao Beach.However, visitors looking for the calm and quiet atmosephere choose it as destination. There is a bungalow opening for travelers.

Location: 1 kilometer further next to Klong Chark Beach.
How To get there: By motorcars from the Pier to the beach where 3-4 resorts are available. Tourists may find accommodation first at Tha Khao Beach and hire motorcycles to tour round. Careful ride is recommended as some parts of the beachside road are under construction. The beach is about 10 kilometers away from Manoh Pier.

Tha Khao Beach is unique with a redish brown beach line in a wide area of 1.5 kilometers where at low tide looks like a combination of 6 football grounds. Tha Khao Beach is one of Koh Yao Noi's beaches with beauty varieties. From the center, a brownish white sandy ridge lifts to from a passage from the beach to Koh Nok in the heart of the sea very uniquely--recognized as the most beatiful viewpoint for sunrise. At the lower part of the beach is where an important pier in the east Tha Khao located for fisherman and passenger boats. Tourists may hier local boats here to visit Koh Phak Bia, Koh Lading and Koh Hong.

Tha Khao Beach is far from Manoh Pier about 10 kilometers. The sandy-gravel beach is curving inward the island. Visitors can walk to Koh Nok nearby in low tide.

Getting to Yao Island
Mu Koh Yao are accessible from Phuket, Phang-nga, and Krabi provinces. However, it is most convenient to get there from Phuket.

*To Ko Yao Noi
From Phuket: Boats leave Bang Rong Pier, Tambon Pa Khlok, Amphoe Thalang, to Ko Yao Noi Sanitary District Pier 7 times daily at 8.30 a.m., 9.30 a.m., 11.00 a.m., 12.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m., 4.00 p.m., and 5.00 p.m. Boats depart Ko Yao Noi for Bang Rong Pier 6 times daily at 7.00 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 10.00 a.m., 1.30 p.m., 3.00 p.m., and 4.00 p.m. The fare is 100 Baht / person / trip. The trip takes approximately 50 minutes. A charter long-tail boat is also available at 1,500 – 3,000 Baht. Speed boats of various sizes are available to be chartered at 6,000 – 8,000 Baht / trip.

From Krabi: Boats leave Tha Len Pier in Amphoe Mueang Krabi twice daily at 11.00 a.m. (to Mano Pier), and 1.00 p.m. (to Tha Khao Pier). Two boats leave Ko Yao Noi to Tha Len Pier daily at 7.30 a.m. (one from Tha Khao Pier and the other from Mano Pier). The trip takes 40 minutes and the fare is 100 Baht / trip. From Tha Len Pier, visitors may take a Song Thaeo to catch the bus at the Krabi Bus Terminal. The trip takes 1 hour and costs 40 Baht each.
From Phang-nga: A boat leaves the Customs Office Pier to Ko Yao Noi (Mano Pier or Sanitary District Pier – depending on the tide) once a day at 1.00 p.m. A boat departs Ko Yao Noi to the Customs Office Pier at 7.30 a.m. The trip takes approximately 1½ hours and the fare is 150 Baht. A charter boat for 10- 12 persons is available at approximately 5,000 Baht at the Customs Office Pier.

*To Ko Yao Yai
From Phuket: Two boats leave Thian Sin Pier on Si Suthat Road, Phuket, to Ko Yao Yai (Lo Chak Pier) at 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m., taking 1 hour. Another two boats leave Lo Chak Pier to Thian Sin Pier at 8.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. The fare is 100 Baht / trip.
From Ko Yao Noi: Board the boat at Mano Pier to Ban Chong Lat Pier or Khlong Hia Pier on Ko Yao Yai. The boats leave during 6.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m., taking 10 minutes. The fare is 20 Baht each.

Both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses depart from Bangkok's Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai) to Trat every hour from 6 a.m. to midnight. From Bangkok the buses to Trat cost 169 baht for 1st class air-conditioned buses (132 baht for 2nd class) and 197 baht for 24-seat VIP air-conditioned buses or 113 baht for regular buses. The trip takes five to six hours by air-conditioned bus or about eight hours by regular bus.

From Chanthaburi to Trat, the regular bus takes about 30 minutes. If one goes by taxi from Chanthaburi to Trat, it takes around 45 minutes.

By Van
There are many vans plying between Bangkok and Ao Thammachat, Centre Point or Laem Ngob. They are found on Khao San Road near the Vieng Tai Hotel, departing daily at 8:00 a.m. and leaving Laem Ngob at 11:00 a.m. The one-way fare is 500 Baht per person depending on the season.

By Air
Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com, e-mail : reservation@bangkokair.com, Tel.1771) flies thrice daily to Trat. The flight time is 50 minutes. Transfers from Trat Airport to Koh Chang is 280 to 350 Baht per trip depending on the hotel where you stay.

Getting to Islands

Ferries
Ao Thammachat (Thammachat Bay) has 2 piers. Koh Chang Ferry (Tel: 039-518 -588) and Ferry Koh Chang (Tel: 039-518-528) operate from 6:30 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. The ferries depart every 1/2 hour during the high season (November to April) and on long weekends landing at Ao Sapparos (Sapparos Bay). Both charge 60 Baht per person and 100 Baht per car for a one-way trip. Travelling time is approximately 25 minutes. Centre Point Ferry (Tel: 039-538-196) starts at 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Travelling time is about 40 minutes and it lands at Dan Kao Cabana. The ferry fare costs 50 Baht per person, and 70 Baht per person for those who come with their own cars. The frequency lessens during other times of the year depending on the crowd and weather. On arrival at Koh Chang, you will find some Songthaew ready to take you anywhere on Koh Chang, for 40 to 80 Baht per person depending on the distance. This applies to other piers as well.

After 5:00 p.m., songthaews are available from the Ao Thammachat pier only, but not going to the pier. Passengers taking the last public ferry at 7:00 p.m. from Koh Chang may find it difficult to get to Trat town. However, if there are enough passengers, people who work at the pier with private cars may be willing to charge a fee for bringing people to Trat. (Table)

To Other Islands
About 25 km from Trat town is Laem Sok Pier, also called Siriwhite Pier (Tel: 086-126 -7860), serving taxi speedboats to Koh Kood only. Carrying up to 30 passengers, they leave daily at 1:00 p.m., and arrive Koh Maak at 1:50 p.m. and then Koh Kood at 2:20 p.m. The fare is 400 Baht to Koh Maak and 550 Baht to Koh Kood. The fare between Koh Kood and Koh Maak is 300 Baht. You can also charter a speedboat at 8000 Baht to Koh Maak and 9000 Baht to Koh Kood. Return trip from Koh Kood is at 10:00 a.m. and Koh Maak at 10:30 a.m. It arrives at Laem Sok at about 11:15 a.m.
It is advisable to check the rate and schedule of the ferry services before embarking on the trip because of possible changes due to the season, passenger load and competition amongst the ferry and boat operators. The rates and schedules supplied here is effective at the time of writing and should serve as a guide only.

Koh Kudi is a small island in the Koh Samed-Kao Laem Ya National Marine Park of Rayong province.This island is on the east of Ko Samet.six kilometres from the mainland. Ko Kudi totals an area of 63 rai. A nice beach and coral reefs make it a nice place for a hideaway. Nearby islands are Ko Thai Khangkhao and Ko Tham Ruesi.

The sea floor comprises solid rock which gently slopes into deeper water (going down to a maximum depth of 20 metres). The site offers splendid marine life which includes batfish, reef fish, black coral and seafan. Underwater visibility is maintained at around 12 metres on most occasions. The site is suitable for beginners.

Although Ao Phai is just next to Haad Sai kaew with only a rock in between,it is much more peaceful without any sea activities.Yet the beach is also white, clean and nice for swimming.

Crystal Clear Water

Ao Phai(Bamboo Bay) is quite different from the spectacular beach Sai Kaew entirely.
Because the Gulf is filled with bamboo trees and rock is not just sand alone.
And that's because the trees on rock make this beach is more attractive in itself.
I chose to stay near Ao Phai. Because beauty. And living away from many sources.

How to get there: From Nuantip Port at Ban Pae, there will be passenger boat to Koh Samet,which leaves every 30 minutes.
Most of Ko Samet, including all of the good parts, is part of Khao Laem Ya and Mu Ko Samet National Park and has an entry fee. Thais pay 40 baht for adults, 20 baht for children (current as of 6/09); foreigners pay 200 baht for adults, 100
baht for children (current as of 11/09). This two-tier pricing
policy is applicable to all national parks. If you can explain, however, that you actually live or work in Thailand, then you may not have to pay the ‘tourist’ price. One excuse for the difference is that "Thai pay taxes". If your ferry arrives at the main pier and you take a songthaew to the beaches, there will be a stop at the main ticket checkpoint. If your ferry arrives at one of the beaches, an officer will collect the fee as you step out of the surf. Note that there is plenty of foot traffic in and out of the park to the 7-Eleven, ATM or other shops and restaurants and if you have no bags you can nonchalantly walk into the park without anyone checking your ticket. Most beaches are on the eastern side of the island. The beaches hide in small bays and stretch some 200 metres.
From the north, there are Ao Noi Nha,Haad Sai Kaeo,Ao Phai , Ao Phutsa, Ao Thabthim, Ao Naun, Ao Cho,Ao Wong Duan, Ao Thian, Ao Wai, Ao Kiew Na Nok and Ao Pa-Karang. The only beach on the western side is Ao Phrao. One of the famous beaches is Ao Wong Duean in the middle of the eastern side. This beach stretches in the shape of an almost complete circle. Both Ao Wong Duean and Hat Sai Kaeo have very fine white sand.

Travelling in Pattaya

Pattaya City is divided into four major zones: North Pattaya, Central Pattaya, South Pattaya and Chomthian. It should be noted that there is a small mountain known as the Hill, located between South Pattaya and Chomthian. Motorbikes are the most popular mode of transport in Pattaya. However, transportation in the city is facilitated through the use of special cars (song taew), customized pickup trucks with passenger seats in a covered overhead back cabin. These pickups, known as Bahts-Bus, can easily carry 8-10 passengers in the back, plus 1 or 2 passengers in front. They circle around the city and are allowed to stop anywhere. In addition to motorbike-taxis, the Bahts-Buses are the only form of public transport permitted in Pattaya. If not occupied, they also can be hired as private taxis. In fact, they are private vehicles in most cases belonging to the drivers. There are so many of them that they end up looking for passengers.

This compact city consists of 3 major roads that parallel each other. Right along the beach is Beach Rd., which is a one-way road from the north to south that is a few kilometers long. Second Rd. is a hundred or so meters away and carries city transport mainly from the south to north, although it is partly a two-way road. The last road is Sukhumvit Rd, a continuation of the highway leading to Bangkok. Many small streets called Soi(s) cross the roads. And it's advisable to walk some of the small streets, which are enumerated from north to south, although some have names. Second Rd. continues on to South Pattaya and turns to Chomthian reaching Chomthian beach within 5 minutes, and continues alongside Chomthian beach, which is approximately 20 kilometers long with some secluded escapes.

Chomthian Beach Rd., which is a two-way road, also parallels Sukhumvit Rd and is the only road in the Chomthian area, except for some connecting streets. On the other side of Sukhumvit road are several country clubs, golf courses and typical Thai rural villages, providing charming escapes on the banks of sweet-water lakes and small streams in the leisurely and relaxing countryside.

Many kinds of motorbikes, convertible monster Jeeps, sport and passenger cars are offered for rent. A driver's license is not required for driving around Pattaya and vicinity, so many tourists are tempted get behind the wheel. It should be noted that in Thailand drivers drive on the left lane, as in England and Japan.

Getting around the city
Apart from the local orange bus (9 baht / trip / person),songthaews are another option to get around the city. It costs 10 baht / trip / person. Samlors will cost approximately 20-30 baht. The orange bus departs from the Phu Phin train station to the city every 10 minutes from 6.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m. The same ride by taxi will cost approximately 100 baht.

Several ferries connect the island with the mainland, including the car ferry from Don Sak to a pier in the west of the island, south of the main town Nathon. Public buses to all parts of the mainland operate from a small bus station located in the south of Nathon. Songthaews (tuk-tuk style buses) circle the ring road, and private taxis are available throughout the island although these are often criticised for failure to use meters and flagrant overcharging.

The direct flight from Don Muang airport in Bangkok (or Singapore) to Samui is by far the most convenient way to come. Samui Airport is privately owned and operated by Bangkok Airways and the price of the ticket is high by comparison to other comparable destinations throughout the country, however the airport is a sight for sore eyes (and sore bodies). This delightful little facility has won International awards for its environmentally friendly design and bucolic charm.

Geting There
By air
Bangkok Airways flies from Bangkok to Ko Samui 13 times daily. The flight takes ab out one hour and 10 minutes. It also offers daily flights between Phuket and Samui. Thai Airways operates fights from Bangkok to Samui Twice daily.

By bus
Air-con and non-air-con buses leave Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal for Surat Thani several times daily. The trip takes about 11 hours.

By car
From Bangkok, take Highway 4 (Buddha Monthon Road) through Phetchaburi, Chumphon and then drive on to Highways 41 and 401 to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani, visitors can take their cars to Ko Samui through a vehicle ferry at Donsak pier. The trip takes 1.30 hours.

By rail
Several trains leave Bangkok's Hualamphong Station for Surat Thani daily. The trip takes about 12 hours. The train/ bus/ ferry combination tickets are also available.

From Surat Thani to Ko Samui
1. Express boat
1.1 An express ferry boat of Songserm Travel departs from Tha Thong pier in Surat Thani at 08.00 hrs. and arrives at Na Thon pier in Samui at 10.30 hrs. every day. For the return trip, the boat leaves Na Thon at 14.00 hrs. and reaches Tha Thong at 16.30 hrs.
1.2 Express boats of Seatran Express operate three times a day between Ban Don - Ko Samui. Departure times are 07.00, 12.30 and 14.30 hrs. The trip takes two hours.
2. Ferry boats
Ferry boats, each accommodating 60 cars and 400 passengers, sail from Don Sak pier (Surat Thani) to Ko Samui, one per hour, from 05.00 to 19.00 hrs., and from Ko Samui to Don Sak pier (Surat Thani), also one per hour, from 06.00 to 18.00 hrs. Each trip takes about 1.30 hours.
3. Night ferry
A slow night ferry leaves Ban Don pier nightly at 23.00 hrs. and reaches Na Thon at Samui around 05.00 hrs. (6 hours). For the return trip, the boat leaves Na Thon at 21.00 hrs. and arrives at Ban Don at 04.00 hrs. (7 hours).
